Shipping policy

When we dispatch

  • Orders received before 11am on a working day are processed the same day. Orders received after 11am are processed the next working day. "Working day" means Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays.
  • Delivery times are estimates and depend on stock levels and the courier. Unless we agree otherwise with you, we'll deliver within 30 days of accepting your order.

How we deliver

  • Smaller parcels go by Royal Mail (RM48 or Tracked 48). Larger parcels go by courier, currently DHL or DPD. We choose the service based on the size and weight of your order, and your dispatch confirmation will tell you which one we've used.
  • Couriers deliver Monday to Friday, up to 6pm. Saturday delivery is available for £25.
  • There are no deliveries on bank holidays.
  • You can track your parcel using the tracking number in your dispatch email, or in the Shop app.

Fresh meat

  • Fresh meat is packed to order and dispatched on Wednesdays and Thursdays only, for next-day delivery before 12pm. That means delivery on Thursday or Friday.
  • The order cut-off for Friday delivery is 11am on Thursday. Orders received after that go out the following week.
  • If the Friday is a bank holiday, the last orders are 11am on Wednesday for Thursday delivery.
  • If your order includes fresh meat and other products, the whole order will be sent together on your meat delivery day.
  • Our packaging keeps meat cold for up to 48 hours, but please refrigerate or freeze it as soon as it arrives. Please make sure someone is at home to receive it, because fresh meat can't be returned to the depot.
  • If you've asked the courier to leave your parcel in a safe place or with a neighbour, it becomes your responsibility once it has been left there.
  • We're unable to send fresh meat to some areas of Scotland, the Channel Islands and Northern Ireland.

Other destinations
Please call 020 8547 3845 or email hello@bestbiltong.com for a quote before ordering. Some products, including fresh meat and alcohol, can't be sent outside the UK.

If nobody is in

If the courier can't deliver, they'll leave a card or notification telling you where to collect your parcel. If a parcel is returned to us because nobody was available and it wasn't collected, we may charge for redelivery. If perishable goods spoil because a delivery fails for this reason, we may not be able to offer a refund for them. If you're often out, you may prefer to have your order delivered to a work address.

Late or missing parcels

Your order is our responsibility until it is delivered to you, to someone at your address, or to a safe place or neighbour you've nominated. If your parcel is late, lost or damaged, contact us and we'll put it right. We aren't responsible for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as severe weather or courier strikes, but we'll keep you informed.

Alcohol (age-restricted products)

Alcohol can only be ordered by, and delivered to, people aged 18 or over. We operate Challenge 25: if the person receiving the delivery looks under 25, the courier will ask for valid photo ID, such as a passport, UK driving licence or PASS card.

The courier will refuse delivery if valid ID isn't shown, if the recipient is under 18, or if the parcel appears to be accepted on behalf of someone under 18. Alcohol can't be left in a safe place or at an unattended address. If delivery is refused for these reasons, the goods will be returned to us and refunded as set out in our Refund Policy.

Buy South Africa Limited sells alcohol under the Licensing Act 2003.
